Genocide in the Sudan - Photograph by Wendy Stone
SUDAN
Sudan is a land lost in the backwater of time
Time now is as it was twenty years ago
Mothers and children slaughtered
No good reason but for War
That hard Mistress called War,
Wife of Death, sister of Dread and Disease
Cousin to Pain, Hunger, and Despair
War is a harsh Mistress to all
The children always are the ones
The small ones who suffer for War
Lost in the times of War,
Lost in the backwater of time
A time long ago, in another War
Another war in the sands of Sudan
My eyes saw and my mind saw
The Ravages of War on the children
It is the same, no matter the War!!
It is the same, no matter the Time!!
Time does not make changes,
Only man can make changes,
Man will not make changes, because
Because he is in love with WAR!!!!
