ODE TO A LITTLE LADY

I isolate myself sometimes and seek peace in rugged hills,
Away from loyal friends and folk out where the cascades spills
I stand alone and face the world it's corruption and it's hate,
But never do I close my door and open is my gate.
You can tag me with any name that suits your will to do,
But never was a friend like me more honest and more true.
And if I thought my actions now were wrong and that I lie,
I would dishonor those I love and I would wish to die.
A wiser and more troubled mind gave thoughts of trust to me,
And I returned my trust for her and both of us were free.
We understood that rivers flow through many types of ground,
And many forked just where we stood our island to surround.
But few could ever bridge the gap and fewer even tried,
And I still weep because I loved a part of me who died.
