Danielle N. Calhoun: For My Sister

FOR MY SISTER

Though it's hard to think of you gone,
I have so many memories to cling to,
You and I sharing everything,
Happiness, joy, sadness and pain.

So much like sisters, though apart by years.
Miles between us, we felt so alone,
But as long as we spoke, all the miles were gone.

Then you got sick, and almost died,
Then you got married, and I cried,
Then you got pregnant, what a joy,
Then you got sick again, my heart...

Forever broken.

It's hard for me to say how I feel,
But I know that you know this,
I love you so.

For all the times that you made me laugh,
All the times you made me smile,
All the times you let me cry,
I'll remember as time goes by.

Though sadness will follow in the coming days,
Happiness will replace it, like sun after the rain,
When I'm alone, I'll think of the days,
Where you and I were happy and gay.
