MOONBEAM RIDERS
From the Dark shadows of the night they come
They stand as though waiting for someone
They wait in the shadows so none may see
From the House, two silent figures appear
To those in the shadows they do run
No sounds do they make, only a whisper in the sand
Four figures emerge from the shadows into the bright Moon
Two very large figures with the wings of the gods
Two smaller figures on their backs sit astride
Into the bright desert night they go; two large stallions
Two small women urging their steeds to run, to run like the wind
Two sisters ride side by side, hair loose and flowing in the wind.
Two sisters into the night do go, riding in freedom and in joy
None may follow, no others may go; two young women side by side go.
The dogs run ahead and off to the side, for wherever we go,
They too must go, for they are our protectors and guardians of our souls.
The wind in our face, the moon lights our way, smiles on our faces
Joy in our hearts, for tonight we ride our winged steeds, with hooves
made of iron, their hearts and souls they give us this night.
You on a Stallion fit for a Queen, coal black with four white stockings
And on his face a cross of pure white, love in his heart,
He gives you a kiss as off into the night, you have only dreamed of
This mystery flight. Ride Dani-Mouse, ride my dear friend;
Ride with the wind.
Me on Commanche, a Cruz marked Dun, side by side through the bright
desert night we run. No saddles are needed, nor reins by we two,
our hands in their manes and our arms around their necks.
Two Indian maidens on horses of magic, we run thru the bright Moonlit night.
Faces aglow, eyes burning bright, run my brothers, carry us into the long night
Brother coyote call his hello, brother owl says hello go.
Soon others join our magical run, other maidens who ride in the moonlight.
Others just like us, with horses of magic, on into the night we ride with delight.
Too soon it is over, to day we must return,
but tonight when the moon is again bright,
tonight we will again run our horses in the beautiful moonlight.
